Gottfried Helnwein is one of the most famous and one of the most disputed German artists of the postwar period. The film accompanies him for two years with his creative processes in Ireland and Los Angeles.

His work has been exhibited in prestigious museums in the world, and its exhibitions achieve high visitor numbers. With his hyper-realistic depictions of tortured girl from the 1970s, shocked to the paintings and photographs from today, he touched and fascinated audiences worldwide. Helnwein confronts the viewer, almost always with the dark side of human nature, the manifestation of violence and power. His central theme is the child as being abused and injured. The artist brings us the ability to suffer the fate of man before the child's eyes and makes the viewer on confidant and accomplice. Gottfried Helnwein, born 1948, grew up in Vienna during the postwar period. His childhood was marked by strict Catholicism - a world full productions of crime and punishment, torture and blood, wounds and martyrdom. Colored pictures existed for him at first only in the torture and suffering representations of the Catholic Church - until he discovered the stories of Donald Duck and Duckburg, that would change his life.

The examination of art is always subjective. However, trying this portrait about the artist Helnwein as objectively and to watch him at work. Thus the viewer here witnessed various work processes - whether in his Irish castle or in the studio in Los Angeles. In addition, Helnwein about his intentions and gives insight into his soul, which in turn is essential for its creativity and artistic work. Interesting fact: The friendship with Californian Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will be discussed.
