Special 12” featuring new versions of the track Fa, taken from the debut Fennesz solo album ‘Hotel Paral.lel’ (1997). 15 years after its initial release, Christian Fennesz gives this throbbing monster of a track a new seeing to, extending it and adding more of that magic he is so well known for. The album was always an exercise in exploring alternate means of hearing club based music. This new version carries that concept further.

This is backed by a cracking new mix by the ever productive Mark Fell, adding his unique beat structures, and even a MLK sample, which lends his contemporary rhythmic landscape a odd nostalgic twist.

This 12” can be seen as a warm up for the new Fennesz album, which is currently scheduled for 2013 release.

Fennesz - Venice - 2004

Universally acclaimed as one of the major releases of 2004, Venice was recorded on location in the summer of 2003 and subsequently assembled and mixed at Amann Studios, Vienna in January/February 2004. Venice, the fourth studio album by Christian Fennesz, finds electronic music at a crossroads between its early status as digital subculture, and the feeling that there has to be something more, an emotional quality that rises above noise and moves towards melody and rapture. Fennesz - Endless Summer - 2001

Endless Summer is an album by Christian Fennesz, released on 3 July 2001 by Mego. It was reissued in 2006 with two bonus tracks and new cover art. Like most of Fennesz's other works, it focuses heavily on digitally manipulated electric guitar sounds, but with a much stronger emphasis on melodies and pop-like composition than on his previous releases. Endless Summer shares its title with a 1974 Beach Boys compilation album. It was named the 41st best album of the decade by Resident Advisor, 14th by Tiny Mix Tapes, and 26th by Pitchfork Media.

Fennesz - Plus Forty Seven Degrees 56' 37" Minus Sixteen Degrees 51' 08 - 1999

Fennesz's first album for Touch, and the only album recorded using only a laptop computer, previously released as a jewel case in 1999. [There was prior to that a deluxe edition of 1000 copies in landscape art format, which sold out immediately.] It has been out of print for a couple of years. The audio remains the same, the imagery uses the location shots from the deluxe edition.

 Fennesz is concerned with creating extremely dense and enveloping sound textures, essentially forgoing rhythmic or melodic development exploring electronic sound at an almost a molecular level, and the result is a complex, organic, and at times very beautiful noise. "Track 5" (there are no song titles) is the most challenging music here, consisting of deep, almost cello-like drones intertwined with extremely harsh static. There is a palpable tension between the two elements on this track that might remind some of a more avant-garde and (it must be said) abrasive version of My Bloody Valentine. "Track 4" displays Fennesz' virtuosity with microtonal manipulation, as tiny fragments of sound, possibly sampled guitar harmonics, seem to vibrate in place and undergo subtle variations with time. "Track 7" may incorporate some sort of field recordings into the mix, as atmospheric, industrial noises are blended with jarring guitar distortion. An interest in noise music is necessary, but those so inclined will find Plus Forty Seven Degrees 56' 37" Minus Sixteen Degrees 51' 08" to be a challenging and rewarding album of abstract beauty.

Fennesz - Hotel Paral.lel - 1997

"Hotel Paral.lel", originally released in September 1997 by Mego, was Christian Fennesz’s debut solo album. Following up from the EP “Instrument”, it was an investigation into the sonic possibilties residing in guitar based digital music, recorded just before mobile computing devices became the norm.A far more darker and experimental work than what was to follow. Freeform noise, sliced techno beats and subtle ambient textures create a timeless work, which is an essential addition to any collection of pioneering music of the late 20th Century. On the closing “Aus” we see a glimpse of what was to come, a springboard to the future.

In addition to the original 14 tracks, 2 extra titles are included:"5", (originally released in 1996 as a 7” single on Syntactic (LEAK20), in an edition of 100), and the acclaimed video made by Tina Frank/skot for the track “Aus”.
